Artists we’ve worked with and recommend for original artwork

The Kudzu Colophon shirt from Danger Prints: the Danger Press printer’s mark wrapped in illustrated kudzu vines

Most of our clients are part of the creative community and come to us with their designs and ideas ready to go. For that reason we don’t offer in-house design: Danger Press prints, and prepares existing artwork for print. When you need original artwork for a t-shirt, poster or merch drop, these are the designers and illustrators we’ve worked with and are happy to recommend.

Each of them works independently, so contact them directly about style, schedule and price. Once you’ve hired someone, we’ll work with them on file setup, ink colors and separations so the art is built for screen printing from the start.

  • Designers: 3, for type, logos and layout.
  • Illustrators: 15, for drawn and painted artwork.
  • How to reach them: each listing links to the artist’s Instagram or website, most with an email address.

Quick Answers

Does Danger Press do design work?

No. Most of our clients come to us with their own artwork and want it printed as accurately as possible, so we focus on printing and on preparing existing artwork for print. For original artwork, hire one of the designers or illustrators on this page; we’re happy to work with them directly.

What’s the difference between a designer and an illustrator?

A designer arranges type, logos, color and layout into a finished graphic, often for a brand or an event. An illustrator draws the artwork itself: characters, scenes, lettering or patterns, by hand or digitally. Some projects need both.

What should I tell a designer or illustrator before they start?

What it’s for and who will wear it, the garment and its color, where the print goes and roughly how big, how many ink colors you can afford (each color is its own screen), your deadline and budget, and a few examples of styles you like.

What files should my designer give me for screen printing?

Vector files are best: Adobe Illustrator (.ai), EPS or PDF, with fonts converted to outlines and spot colors set, ideally Pantone. For hand-drawn or painted work, a layered Photoshop (.psd) or TIFF at 300 dpi at full print size.

Who owns the artwork a designer or illustrator makes for me?

Usually the artist keeps the copyright unless your agreement says otherwise. Agree in writing, before work starts, whether you’re buying the rights or a license, and make sure it covers printing and selling the design on merchandise.

More answers about working with an artist, file setup and printing are in our Good to Know FAQ. Artwork requirements are on our artwork page.

When your artwork is ready, email us at hello@dangerpress.com or request a quote. Danger Press is a screen printing company that’s been operating in Atlanta, Georgia, since 2004.
